If I have money left over I'll cover the last little slice of Russia for total land coverage, then I'll work on airbases in between the bases I have. Next I dropped one in Australia, one in Greenland, one in South Africa, and one building in Alaska. Those four all have Chinooks and strike teams, along with engineers to build their equipment. Then as soon as I had the money I dropped one in South America. I started in Egypt, as one does, but immediately built one on the USA/Canada border and one in China. They are pretty cheap though, so if you have room, slap them in there.įor almost all of phase 1 I had four bases. That said, Phase 1 cannons will not do much against Phase 2 raiders, so maybe damage them with planes instead and use the space for something else. I think I remember that the aliens tend to attack older bases first, so your cannons would be best there. You do need living spaces and labs for them though, so that means more running costs. Scientists collaborate no matter where they are, so it can be good to spread them around. Consequently I also have workshops in each of these two bases and try to keep them independent in terms of resources. I went for two though since I wanted two independent teams for maximum mission coverage and redundancy. The pros say that you should only have one base with soldiers and engineers because that means you only have to produce stuff for one team of soldiers and not have to ship around raw material and the like, which is expensive. Also should one of your bases fall, all the planes are distributed to free hangars or else destroyed, so having spare hangars is good. I have the feeling I overdid it a bit on plane count in my run, but then again I managed to shoot down both Terror UFOs I encountered, so maybe it was worth it. So have at least some hangars in every base. You want enough planes to shoot down every UFO you encounter to both boost your relations and have the maximum freedom to go on missions. It is also good to know when they are going to be over land because you may catch them early, especially good when their UFOs are faster than your planes, so sea coverage by no means is meaningless. UFOs mainly do bad stuff over land (though not exclusively), so that is what you should cover the most. It gives you the ability to spot UFOs in the first place and in turn engage them. Take my method and my comment here with a grain of salt since I am doing this run more or less blind, but since I was mentioned I wanted to write down why I did what I did (I am Dagar btw.): TLDR What's your ideal base placement and base builds to effectively setup for phase 2 and beyond? Sorry if format is shit, this is my first reddit post. Again this is for x division, atm I'm unsure if there are more buildings I can unlock. Or how do you fill each slot within the base as an ideal setup? Ie. To the point: what is your ideal base positions, how many bases should I have and how do you split the bases up? Ie. I know it's probably not ideal in the long run but I'm still experimenting I plan on starting a F R E S H game in the not to distant future. So I have been slowly getting them some experience in the field. I just got to the point where I have 2 solid a-teams and just filled up a chinook in my 2 smaller bases. They have done a good job at getting most continents covered. I'm having a lot of fun and I believe I'm nearing the end of phase one. So looking around I decided to give x-division a try. I have just recently picked this game up again and found the base game rather dull.
